WELCOME TO THE BEAR CUB CLASS!
(Older 2’s & 3’s)
Our Bear Cub Class is designed for our older two- and three-year-olds who are gaining confidence and independence while still needing nurturing guidance and support. This class bridges the gap between toddlerhood and preschool, helping children build the foundational skills they need for more structured learning environments. The focus is on language development, social interaction, and growing self-sufficiency, as children begin to see themselves as capable and contributing members of the classroom community.
Each day includes opportunities for art, music, movement, and STEM exploration, encouraging curiosity, creativity, and hands-on discovery. Fine and gross motor skills are strengthened through a variety of play-based experiences, from painting and building to climbing and dancing. Large group times help children practice listening, turn-taking, and participating cooperatively with peers — important social-emotional milestones at this age.
A key focus in the Bear Cub Class is language and friendship development. Teachers model positive communication, help children express their needs and feelings, and guide them in learning empathy, patience, and sharing. Potty training is actively supported in this class, and teachers partner closely with families to ensure a positive, consistent approach that builds confidence and self-awareness.
The outdoor play yard serves as an extension of the classroom, offering countless opportunities for exploration, problem-solving, and connection with nature. Our Bear Cubs also participate in the Garden Program, where they dig, plant, and water while learning about the natural world — from how food grows to the beauty of flowers and plants. They even get to explore our creek-like outdoor setting, fostering curiosity and wonder about the environment around them.
Many of our Bear Cubs will move on to the Monkey Class or Pre-K, depending on age and readiness for kindergarten or transitional kindergarten. Regardless of their next step, each child leaves this class with stronger self-help skills, social confidence, and a joyful love for learning — all nurtured by our dedicated, experienced teachers who engage wholeheartedly with every child each day.
