WELCOME TO THE MONKEY CLASS!
(Older 3’S)
Our Monkey Class is designed for our older three-year-olds who are ready to take the next step toward independence, curiosity, and confidence. At this stage, children are eager to make choices, take on new challenges, and develop the self-sufficiency that will prepare them for Pre-K and beyond. The Monkey Class provides a balanced environment where play, exploration, and early academics come together to nurture the whole child.
The curriculum encourages children to strengthen fine motor skills — essential for future writing — through activities such as cutting with scissors, manipulating clay, using tweezers, and experimenting with multiple writing tools. Early exposure to phonics, math, and science is integrated into engaging circle times and hands-on learning centers. These experiences help children connect ideas, think critically, and begin to see themselves as capable learners.
As independence grows, children take pride in mastering self-help skills such as dressing themselves, cleaning up after activities, and becoming fully self-sufficient in the bathroom. Teachers gently guide them toward understanding three-step directions, promoting listening, sequencing, and memory — key school readiness skills. Emotional development is fostered through cooperative play, problem-solving, and learning how to express feelings appropriately and respectfully.
The Monkey Class continues to emphasize process art, where creativity and exploration are valued over the final product, allowing children to gain confidence in their individuality and imagination. Music, movement, and STEM exploration are incorporated daily, giving students multiple ways to engage with the world around them.
Our outdoor play yard serves as an essential extension of the classroom, providing a beautiful, park-like setting where children can climb, dig, build, and create. Twice a week, students participate in our Garden Program, learning about the food system, plant growth, and caring for the earth. These hands-on garden experiences nurture curiosity, environmental awareness, and sensory exploration.
Many children from the Monkey Class will transition to our Owl Class or to Transitional Kindergarten, depending on age and parental choice. Regardless of their next step, each child leaves with a stronger sense of self, improved communication skills, and readiness for more structured learning experiences.
Our teachers are qualified, loving, and deeply dedicated to each child’s well-being. They create a warm, supportive environment that fosters confidence, independence, and a lifelong love of learning.
